Stamped & Decorative Concrete in Bothell, WA

Get the look of authentic stone, rock or brick without the cost of the real thing. Stamped patterns, concrete colors and coatings turn a plain slab into a feature.

The look of stone, without the cost

Natural stone and brick are beautiful, but they cost a lot and take time to lay. With concrete colors and coatings, Bothell Concrete Contractor can give you the look of authentic stone, rock or brick at a fraction of the effort, and blending brick trim with concrete creates a look that is all your own.

Decorative options

  • Stamped patterns. Patterns pressed into fresh concrete to look like slate, flagstone, cobblestone or brick.
  • Color. Color added to the concrete, often with a second accent color that brings out the texture of the pattern.
  • Coatings and sealers. Decorative coatings and sealers that deepen the color and protect the surface.
  • Brick trim. Brick borders and bands blended with concrete to frame a patio or walkway.
  • Exposed aggregate. A pebbled surface that shows off the natural stones in the concrete.

Where decorative concrete works best

Stamped and colored concrete is a favorite for patios, front walkways and entries, where people see it up close. It also works on driveways, which are built the same way as a standard driveway with the pattern and color added while the concrete is fresh.

Caring for decorative concrete

A sealer keeps stamped and colored concrete looking rich. Plan to reseal every few years, sweep off leaves and needles, and wash away moss before it takes hold. For walkways and pool areas, ask for an anti-slip additive in the sealer.

Finish options

Finish options

The finish decides how your concrete looks, how much grip it has in the rain and how much upkeep it needs. We help you choose during your free consultation.

Finish 01 / 04

Broom finish

A stiff broom is pulled across the fresh concrete to leave fine, even ridges. It is the classic finish for driveways and walkways because the texture gives tires and shoes good grip in the rain, and it is simple to keep clean.

Finish 02 / 04

Exposed aggregate

The thin top layer of cement paste is washed off before the concrete hardens, revealing the rounded stones in the mix. The pebbled surface has a natural, rugged look, plenty of texture underfoot and hides dirt and wear well.

Finish 03 / 04

Stamped & colored concrete

Patterns are pressed into the fresh concrete and color is added, so the slab takes on the look of stone, slate, rock or brick without the cost of the real thing. A sealer brings out the color and protects the surface.

FAQ

Stamped & Decorative Concrete questions

Can’t find your answer? Call (425) 230-3189, Monday to Saturday, 7 AM to 7 PM.

Is stamped concrete slippery?

Sealed stamped concrete can be slick when wet. An anti-slip additive mixed into the sealer adds grip, which we suggest for walkways, steps and pool areas.

How often does stamped concrete need sealing?

Every two to three years is typical, depending on sun, traffic and weather. Resealing keeps the color rich and protects the surface.

Can stamped concrete be used on a driveway?

Yes. A stamped driveway is built like any concrete driveway, with the pattern and color added while the concrete is still fresh.

Stamped concrete or pavers?

Stamped concrete is one continuous slab, so there are no joints for weeds to grow through and no pavers to shift. Pavers can be lifted and replaced one at a time. Both can look great; we can help you compare.
